Leading the Prairie High School class of 2011 are valedictorian Silas Whitley, left, and salutatorian Seth Guyer, right. See story at left.

Tuesday, April 26 there was an incident on U.S. 95 just north of Cottonwood Butte Road turnoff that closed the highway for several hours. The Baker Trucking semi tractor and full load of wood chips was northbound on 95 as was a red Pontiac Grand Am. The Pontiac pulled out to a wide spot and made a U-turn in the highway. The truck tried to avoid the car by swerving into the southbound lane but didn’t, clipping the car and spinning it to where it came to rest right-side up on the northbound side of the highway.. Meanwhile the truck driver attempted to swerve back into the northbound lane as he was approaching a curve. Apparently the load shifted and momentum pulled him over. Both drivers were transported to St. Mary’s Hospital where they were treated and released. The truck driver was complaining of shoulder soreness while the car driver said he was fine although the spidering on the windshield indicated he may have hit his head. Idaho State Police investigated the accident.  Click on the photo for a larger view.
