The Summer Reading Program continued Thursday, July 5 with a small, pajama clad group of youngsters.  Dan Coburn was our guest reader.  He read a true story about a young man who overcame some serious obstacles and never gave up. It was encouraging to hear about his successes.  Our craft was glitter stars and little, wooden people.  We also did the ever popular Mad Libs.  The fun will continue this Thursday from 1:30 - 3:00 at the City Library.  Please encourage your kids to keep track of their reading time on their logs.  Prizes will be awarded on the last day of the program.. Claire Whitley shared her creative writing talents with the kids on July 12.  We learned how to write our own fictional story.  Each person in attendance was asked to contribute to our story which consisted of a princess, a bottomless snowman, a festival, a horse and many other twists.  But in the end they all lived happily ever after.  The kids are encouraged to write their own creative stories and home and bring them back to share with us.  For our craft we made dream catchers. We have 2 more weeks of summer reading left, so continue filling out your reading charts.  Photos above provided by Aleta Coppernoll. Click on the photo for a larger view.
