The evening of December 5th is a very special one for many children around the world.  Just before they go to bed, they put a shoe by the door and while they are sleeping SinterKlaas comes and quietly leaves treats for them in their shoe.  Mr. and Mrs. Deiss spent time at the elementary school visiting with students in grade 4-6 talking about SinterKlaas (Dutch tradition).  Kids were excited on Friday Dec. 6 when they came to school and had treats in their shoes. Shown above are a couple photos of the students shoes in the hallway at the Elementary School after SinterKlaas has visited. Photos provided by Rene’ Forsmann. Click on the photo for a larger view.

Jacob Kuther is shown with the Christmas tree at Prairie Community Library. He helped his sister Katie put up the tree. Click on the photo for a  larger view.

November attendance winners at Prairie Elementary School were Jackson Enneking, left, and John Lightfield. They got to have lunch with the principal at the restaurant of their choice, which turned out to be The Hangout. They are shown with principal Rene’ Forsmann. Click on the photo for a larger view.
