Cottonwood VFW Commander Dave Frei, Trustee Jeno Hankerson and Quartermaster Rick Johnson are shown with the new flag collection box located in front of Prairie Computer on Main Street. The VFW would like to thank Shane Chapman and the Prairie Jr./Sr. High School art classes along with Jack Duman, who did a clearkote seal, for their efforts. If you have frayed or old flags that need to be retired, drop them off here. And if needed, the VFW has new 3’x5’ flags available for $14.50 at Prairie Computer Service. Last weekend Richard (Richie) Brockamp and John Terhaar received Quilts of Valor made by the their Duman nieces in Idaho. Both men live in Corvallis, Oregon, but both were brother-in-laws of Alfred, Dominic and John Duman. We want them to know how much we appreciate their service to our country. (Richie) Brockamp served in the Army during the Korean War. John Terhaar served in the Army Air Corp during WW2 in the Pacific islands. They both had some stories that were quite interesting. The quilts were delivered to them by Bonnie Gehring and Virgil and Donna Wassmuth. Photo and information by Donna Wassmuth Click on the photo for a larger view.
