It was an historic day at the Regional Crosscountry Meet last Thursday, Oct. 18, as both the girls and boys teams qualified for State. The first time ever for both teams in the same year. Front from left are Kerri Villamor, Jayce Rambo, Kyleigh Duclos, Maria Schmidt, Kendra Duclos, Ciara Chaffee (with the girls 2nd place team trophy), Mattie Lustig, Hope McIntire and Jessie Sonnen. Back from left are assistant coach David Young, head coach Glenn Poxleitner, Ryan Arnzen, Justin Lockett, James Villamor, Devin Ross, Tanner Hibbard, Tyler Wemhoff, William Hooper, Alex McElroy and assistant coach Jenny Arnzen. They compete at State this Saturday with the girls race at 10:30 a.m. and the boys race at 12:15. The State Meet will be in the Lewiston Orchards at the LCSC course next to Ziggy’s. Jessica Meyers presented Erin Shears with a plaque commemorating her 20th anniversary of teaching and all she has done for the community at an appreciation get-together Monday, Oct. 22 at the Cottonwood Community Hall. From preschool programs, the after-school program, shuttling kids to Grangeville for swimming lessons, and continuing to fight for funding for all of it, Erin is an amazing asset to Cottonwood and our families. Well over 100 people showed up Monday, including many of her students, to celebrate with her.  The Idaho County 4-H Livestock Judging Team participated in the University of Idaho Ag Days Judging Contest on Saturday, September 29th.  Team members included Laney Forsmann, Dani Sonnen, Riley Enneking, Chloe Rowland and alternate Olivia Klapprich.  The team placed 3rd in the 4-H Division.
