We had 17 students sign up for the high school blood drive on Tuesday, September 24th.  13 students were able to successfully donate and 4 were unable to donate due to various factors.  Attached is a picture of the students who were September Students of the Month for being "responsible" and taking time out of their day to do a great thing for the community.  This is part of the PBIS initiative that we began to implement district wide.  Pirates aRRRgh...Responsible, Respectful, and Ready! Pictured from left are Nicole Rehder, CiCi Chavez, Halle Klapprich, Hope Schwartz, Eve Uhlenkott, Ellea Uhlenkott, Ashton Landers, Merlyn Famiglietti, Alissa Grossman, Hayden Uhlenkott, Reid Uptmor, Pixie Jones, Matthew Seubert, Leann Lightfield, Matt Coppernoll and Zac Arnzen.  Not pictured is Sierra McWilliams. Livewire Electric was selected as the Prairie Booster Club’s Business Booster of the year for last school year.   Kris and Erika’s dedication to the well being of the Prairie students though participation and volunteer work is greatly appreciated.   Our lighting and our scoreboards would not glow so bright without Livewire Electrics constant support.   Thank you. The Idaho County Fair Royalty did their best to keep smiling despite the cold, wet weather at the Lewis County Fair parade in Nezperce on Saturday. Prairie Elementary School winners for the month of September for being Respectful, Responsible and Ready.  These are our Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS) principles.  When a child receives an R3 card they have been recognized by an adult in the school for following school expectations.  His/her name is put into a drawing and 2 names per trait are drawn at our assembly held each month.  The following students are winners for September (Pictured from left): Bailey Key, Matthias Kaschmitter, Jett Lorentz, Corbin Tacke and Tony Leighton. They are rewarded with getting to eat first, chose a friend to sit with and sit wherever they want in the cafeteria. Photo by Rene’ Forsmann. Click on the photo for a larger view.

Maddie VonBargen and Blaine Anderson had lunch at a restaurant of their choice.  They were winners of the first attendance  drawing of  the new year. Photo by Rene’ Forsmann. Click on the photo for a larger view.

Kindergarten and First Grade students at Prairie Elementary School were recipients of Reading Buddies supplied by Idaho Forest Group.  These Reading Buddies become reading partners with each student.  There are many ways to help your child become a better reader.  One way is to read with your child at home.  Reading can consist of your child describing the pictures, helping you read some of the words, or simply listening to you read aloud.  Any practice helps your child improve his/her reading skills immensely.  Thank you to Rachel, Megan, Eric and Glenn for presenting the buddies to our students at our school assembly. Jim Rehder shared the above Arden Milk ads from 1958 showing some of the local milk producers. 6 of the 9 men shown are no longer with us. Those still alive are Guy Jungert, Vern Uhlorn and John Funke. Click on the photos for larger views.
