The Prairie Jr. High Football team finished an undefeated season by winning the league championship at Potlatch last Thursday. Oct. 15. Kneeling from left are Easton Guyer, Axel Forsmann, Tyden Wemhoff, Everett Schacher, Logan Latimer, Darrel Holcomb and Brody Raymond. Standing from left are head coach TT Cain, Isaak Shears, Kohen Forsmann, Easton Bruegeman, Troy Uhlenkott, Branch Bennett, Jett Lorentz, Kade Lockart, Kallen Lockart, Andrew Riener and assistant coach Jeff Martin. The Pirates were 6-0 including the championship this past Thursday against Potlatch which they won 53-12. The photo above was taken after the championship game. They also had one forfeit, so technically 7-0. In the last three years, junior high has only lost one game (championship 2 years ago to Kendrick), Coach Martin and Coach TT have it figured out. Prairie elementary grades 1-3 enjoyed a day at the Holman farm pressing cider with a turn of the century family apple press. They learned about pasteurization, drank hot cider and ate Grandma’s kettle corn while listening to stories about Jonny Appleseed and how to have a grateful heart. At the Ancient grains station they milled wheat and took home fresh flour with an Irish soda bread recipe. The kids went on a hay ride and learned about the different stages the surrounding fields are in for planting crops. The kids got to tour the garden and pull up some carrots. To finish up the day they had a good ol fashioned foot race to the pumpkin patch and pick out a pumpkin! A huge thanks to the many volunteers throughout the day and to those who brought apples. Especially to April Lustig and Sue Tacke for donating pumpkins. Photos by Kari Holman.  Click on each photo for a larger view.
