The final day of the summer reading program was at the City Park.  Greg Deiss read to the kids and sang a song with them.  We finished up with games, reading awards and bug contest awards.  It was a great summer program.  Thanks to all the kids who came and to all who helped  or read.

The Center for Discovery had 69 kids sign up for swimming lessons in Grangeville. Click on the photo for a larger version.

This year was a great success for local Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts at Camp Grizzly. The boys earned over 30 merit badges including Elective badges and Eagle Scout Badges. Archery, surveying, painting, environmental science, wilderness survival, emergency preparedness and service projects were included. Scouts went on an Honor Trail hike to remember what Scouting is all about. History was shared at each stop. At the end the staff did a flag retirement ceremony. Laird Park was also popular as they canoe up the Grizzly canal and jump off the dam into ice-cold water. Senior Patrol Leader Kyle Bruegeman won the SPL Shotgun tournament his 2nd year in a row. In the top photo are Mitchell Jungert, Drew Cochran, Matt Jungert, Dakota Wilson, Mike Karel, Seth Chaffee, Garrett Workman, Kyle Bruegeman, Shari Chaffee and Terry Cochran. The middle photo shows several scouts canoeing up the Grizzly Canal. The bottom photo shows Scouts building their own shelter during an overnight in the woods..
