Frances Conklin of Dog Bark Park was presented the Bonzey Award as Innkeeper of the Year Award by Brian Scott of Coeur d’Alene, president of the Idaho Bed & Breakfast Association. Shown is the traveling trophy. Conklin also received a smaller plaque which she will get to keep.

Luke Stubbers, a second grader at Summit Academy, was honored at Moscow on May 18 during a ceremony at BookPeople as a winner in the Idaho Public Television/KUID regional PBS KIDS GO! Writers Contest. Mrs. Michelle Sonnen,  1st/2nd grade teacher at Summit Academy submitted her students’ stories in the contest and Luke’s story captured third place in the second grade category with a story titled “The Key of London.” The ceremony at Moscow honored all area grade 1-3 winners.  They read their stories aloud and received certificates and prizes. All contestants statewide wrote stories illustrated with at least five pictures and submitted the entries to the IdahoPTV station in their region.  Stories were judged on originality, creative expression, storytelling and integration of text and pictures. Luke is shown with his teacher, Mrs. Michelle Sonnen.

The Prairie Elementary Kindergarten class visited the fire station.  They learned about fire safety and making a family escape plan.  They even got to spray the water hoses.  Thank you to our wonderful volunteer firemen, especially Ed Holthaus for taking the time to teach the Kindergartners about fire safety.
