Museum is grant recipient; Event planned for June 26-27
The Historical Museum at St. Gertrude in Cottonwood, ID has received a grant award from Inland Northwest Community Foundation in Spokane. The award is for $25,720. . . .
The Historical Museum at St. Gertrude in Cottonwood, Idaho received permission to reprint an article that originally appeared in the Oregon Historical Quarterly. The article, entitled “A Most Daring Outrage: Murders at Chinese Massacre Cove, 1887” by Greg Nokes, was reprinted in the September 2007 issue of our journal, Echoes of the Past. . . .

Whoo Hoo!! The Clearwater To Salmon Rivers Relay For Life planning committee is gearing up for a fabulous 2008 event. Friday, July 18 through Saturday, July 19 at the Grangeville High School track is the place to be for 18 hours of family fun. There will be a celebration of Hope with cancer survivors at 5:00 pm and also a time to stop and remember those we have lost to cancer during the Luminaria Ceremony at 10 pm. . . .

Scholarship bowling tournament held
The Elsie Kinzer Memorial Scholarship Bowling was held at the Prairie Imperial Bowl on May 17 and May 24th.  17 bowlers and 7 speculators participated.  Bowlers bowled 8 games each over the two nights with the high total pins, with handicap, winning the bowling prize.  Rose Gehring won with a score of 1928 total pins.  Bob Canup was 2nd with 1906 pins. . . .

Prairie Elementary students have been raising money and sending items to the Bethany Place of Safety Orphanage in South Africa which was started by Cottonwood native Sr. Mary Paule Tacke. See story below left.

MaKayla Schaeffer, Samantha Keating and Monica Lustig watch as their bridge starts to fail. They won the 8th grade math bridge building competition as it took nearly 95 lbs. to collapse their bridge. See story at left.
