Cottonwood and area history continued; Remember When; Deadline of March 10 set for story submissions
The time frame here is the 1980s. As most of you know, history repeats itself, not only on a day to day basis but year to year and even over 100-year periods. . . .

At the Feb. 9 meeting of the 150-year committee a cutoff date of March 10, 2012, was set for the stories to be submitted. They don’t want to go any later than this if the book is to be in print by August. . . .

It took 20 rounds to crown a spelling bee champion at the Prairie Elementary Spelling Bee contest held Thursday, February 9.    Alexis Shears, 6th grade, left, correctly spelled fascinating to move to the district spelling bee.   Garrett Crenshaw, 5th grade, spelled his way into the 19th round and will move into the school district spelling bee as the runner up.  Both elementary students will compete against 4 junior high students on Thursday February 26 at 1:30 p.m. in the elementary library. The winner of the district spelling bee will compete in Lewiston for the regional championship. A big thank you to Mr. Deiss for being our spelling bee announcer.

WOW what a change.  The Seniors In Shape group completed their 10th week of exercise at the community hall.  They have come a long way.  There used to be a lot of cars parked in front of the hall.  Now that they are in better shape many of the folks are running down to the class. It has been heard that our town police have said that the speed limit is still only 20 mph, even if you are running, in front of the school, so watch out.  All kidding aside, we want to thank the instructors, Shelli Schumacher and Annabelle Gonzales for giving of their time, and Carol Altman for opening up and turning on the heat for these sessions.  Click on the photo for a larger view.
