VFW Post 4902 had their awards banquet Saturday, March 9 at Keuterville. Post Commander Joe Riener presented awards to local winners of their competitions. From top down are Jennifer Cochran, the local, district and state winner of the VFW Public Servant Award; Kim Schumacher,  the local and district winner for teacher of the year; Anthony Karel, the local and district winner in the Patriot’s Pen essay contest and Daun Hoene, the Voice of Democracy local winner.

Molly Schwartz was the second place winner in the VFW's Patriot's Pen essay contest.

Sabrina Lustig tied for third in the VFW's Patriot's Pen essay contest.

Jordyn Higgins tied for third in the VFW's Patriot's Pen essay contest. Post Commander Joe Riener presented all of the awards.

On March 9, 2013 Idaho County Fair Royalty hosted a Tea Party for all the county's little princesses between 3rd grade and preschool.  The Idaho County Fair Royalty and the young girls participated in activities such as creating their own tiaras and having tea and snacks. Then they learned the wave and how to walk like a princess. After learning the walk and wave the young princesses modeled down a walk way in their beautiful dresses and took pictures. The Idaho County Fair Royalty would like to thank everyone that helped make the party a great success and to all those who came. Shown in the picture are Queen Whitney Sonnen, 1st Princess Jacey Arnzen, 2nd Princess Jenni Forsmann and 61 little princesses of the county that came to the Tea Party. On Thursday March 7, 2013 the Cub Scout troop 638 held their annual Blue and Gold Banquet at the Community Center.  The theme for this years’ banquet was Angry Birds.  The scouts and their dads all made cakes based around the theme of Angry Birds.  These cakes were auctioned off during the banquet.  The scouts that received recognition at the banquet were: Matt Coppernoll- Webelo badge, Caleb Butler- Bear Badge, James Biltz- Bear Badge, Jordan Farnworth-Wolf Badge, Tage Perrin- Wolf badge, Morgan Poxleitner- Wolf badge, Jordan Quick- Wolf badge, Trisytn Leonard- Wolf badge, Keenan Shears- Wolf badge, Torry Chmelik- Wolf badge, and Colton McElroy- Wolf badge.  The scout leaders want to thank the parents and community for their support of pack 638. Shown is another one of the great auction items that will be available at the St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation Mardi Gras event which will be held on March 23rd.  This handcrafted horseshoe art was donate by Maurus and Karen Uhlorn.  Tickets for the event are $35 each and are available at St. Mary’s Hospital , the Cottonwood Clinic or by calling Cheri Holthaus at 962.2327.
