The Cottonwood City Crew put out sandbags Saturday evening along Main Street as a preventative measure in case we got the predicted heavy rain on Sunday. Fortunately they weren’t as heavy as predicted and Cottonwood Creek did not overflow this time. The city also made use of some concrete barricades that were surplused by ITD to help direct any possible flood waters. Police Chief Terry Cochran said it’s great when a plan works. The City of Cottonwood placed concrete barricades Saturday evening to help direct potential flood waters away from the Highway District Shop and Fred’s Body Shop. Click on the photo for a larger view.

Monica Goeckner, a new volunteer at the Prairie Community Library is putting  the finishing touches on a new display at  the library.  The display hopes to encourage people to read more books about domestic and wild animals and the library has a large variety of books on the subject available.  Monica attends Prairie Elementary  School and is the daughter of Brent and Jennie Goeckner. Participants sign up with Leah Kaschmitter for the first HealthWalk this year down along the Salmon River. The next one is set for Saturday at Greencreek. Click on the photo for a larger view.

Dr. Pederson, purple coat, was prepared with some health benefits for walking in the rain. Fortunately the sun  was out for at least the start of the walk. Click on the photo for a larger view.

Don Munkers tells the 25 or so walkers participating about the course.  Participation may have been higher if not for the threat of rain. Click on the photo for a larger view.
