The Hangout graciously opened it’s doors Thursday evening so students could eat pizza and watch the final chess competition between Jace Perrin and Garrett Crenshaw.  Fourteen students watched silently for about an hour and half as Jace and Garrett played for the championship.  Students participating in Chess Club understand that playing chess requires a lot of concentration and therefore it is out of respect for the players that there is no talking or unnecessary noise during the game.  They also encourage each other by wishing them well and congratulating them on a good game.  Jace was able to take all of Garrett’s pieces except his king and the game was called with Jace being the winner.  Honorable mentioned are Garrett Crenshaw, second place in the championship , Drew Dinning  second place for grade six, and Calli Perrin second place for grade five. From left are Drew Dinning, Garrett Crenshaw, Jace Perrin and Calli Perrin. Click on the photo for a larger view.
