The VFW Post 4902 and American Legion Post 40 held their annual Memorial Day ceremonies at the Ferdinand and Keuterville Cemeteries this year.

Urban Wassmuth's 4th graders are shown many of the items mountain men used to survive such as traps and snares to catch wild game. See "Rendezvous athe the fairgrounds" above left for an article and more photos.

You can name three of the Wild and Scenic Rivers in the State of Idaho, but can you name more???”  That was the question given by Mr. Wassmuth that clinched the win at the Idaho History Bee team last Wednesday for Mrs. Schu’s 4th grade class.  Prairie team 1 was able to name six rivers and Prairie team 2 was named five as they were competing against each Mr. Wassmuth’s class for 1st and 2nd place in a very tense contest.  Clearwater Valley had already finished 3rd in what turned out to be a very close contest with Highland, Nez Perce, and two Kamiah teams close behind.  Mr. Wassmuth and Mrs. Schu’ would like to thank Denise Poxleitner, Dorothy Nuxoll, Marlene Forsmann, and Greg Deiss for helping at the event.  We would also like to thank Mr. Jeff Martin and the 8th grade class for creating the slideshow that was used during the bee.  It was an outstanding morning of Idaho History!

Cottonwood Police Chief Terry Cochran talks to Prairie 8th graders. Seated to his right are five NICI inmates who shared their experiences and how decisions they made led them to where they are now. See story "Inmates talk to students" above left.

Bryson Higgins and Claire Whitley received the attendance awards for the month of May.  They won a campfire basket that included a lunchbox, hotdogs, ketchup, mustard, graham crackers, marshmallows, and chocolate bars.

Every year the Bureau of Land Management has a coloring contest for Prairie students during Wildflower Week.  This year 4th and 5th grade students participated.  The winner for this year’s contest was Morgan Butler.  She received a shirt and a certificate.
