Lady Pirates take second at State
For the second straight year and the ninth time since 2014 that the Prairie Lady Pirates have finished in second place at State. On Thursday, Feb. 19, they beat Lakeside 53-34 at Columbia High School in Nampa. On Friday, Feb. 20, they defeated #1 seeded Butte County 41-31, also at Columbia High School. On Saturday, Feb. 21, they played Lapwai in the state championship game and lost for the 9th time in 11 state championship meetings between the two schools, 29-40. . . .

Avery Schacher won the District Championship in the 170 lbs. weight class at the girls district meet last Thursday. She will be competing at State this Friday and Saturday at the Idaho Center in Nampa. She is the number 3 seed in her bracket at State and is 28-0 on the season. Photo submitted by Jeff North.
