Prairie Mountain Nutrition held its annual meeting on June 17 in conjunction with the Pioneer Senior Citizens’ weekly lunch, in the lower level of the Cottonwood Community Hall. President  Brandy McElroy presided over the meeting and presented  the proposed revisions to the PMN Bylaws.  Copies of the minutes from the last annual meeting, along with the treasurer’s report, were distributed to all attendees. All proposed revisions were approved.  Following the meeting, a delicious lunch  was served, prepared  by Program manager Tiffany Forsmann. Pictured from left are PMN board members:  Connie Uhlenkott,  Dar Forsmann, Lindsey McElroy, Lynn Thompson and Brandy McElroy serving dessert to the attendees. Photo by Mary Funke. Tobe Finch of Happy Day Restaurants was the featured speaker at Prairie Community Library’s 40th anniversary open house Thursday, June 19. Happy Day runs several restaurants in the Lewiston-Clarkston and Moscow areas including Zany Grey’s, Tomato Bros., Taco Time and Arby’s. Finch talked about how they had to change things when the pandemic hit. They went more local on food sources and built a very large freezer and refrigeration facility so they could stock up ahead and be covered when a shortage hit. Click on the photo for a larger view.

On June 14th the Tri-Parish Youth had their bi-annual roadside cleanup.  Thank you to the three adults, Trina Geis, Emily Ratcliff, and Alexis Shears, for helping me and the 15 youth clean the roads outside Cottonwood along highway 95.  We worked for about an hour and a half and collected 25 bags of garbage.  Following the roadside cleanup, we traveled to Grangeville and treated everyone to Subway for lunch.  I would not be able to do this event without the help of the youth and adults who volunteer their time; it is greatly appreciated. Sarah will be taking Alaina Lustig and Monica Goeckner to a vocational retreat outside of Spokane this weekend, June 27-29. Please keep them in your prayers as we travel this weekend.  I hope everyone is having a safe and blessed start to their Summer. Click on the photo for a larger view.

Two Prairie players have been named to the 2A first team all-state softball team. Kaylie Lockett, top photo, a senior pitcher/shortstop and Erica Schlader, lower photo, a sophomore first baseman were both honored.  Click on each photo for a larger view.
